Alerts stop when the phone is idle
To save battery, Android can stop an app from running in the background. A prayer app then cannot wake up to play the athan, so alerts stop when the phone is idle or overnight.
How to check
- Open your phone’s Settings
- Tap Apps, then find the app in the list
- Tap Battery (on some phones App battery usage)
- Choose Unrestricted
Your phone’s make matters
Some manufacturers add a battery setting of their own on top of Android’s. Pick yours.
Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO
Open the Security app, tap Permissions, then Autostart, and switch the app on. Then open your recent apps, pull the app’s card down and tap the padlock.

Open Phone Master, then App freezer, and remove the app from the frozen list.
